Year Two Day One Hundred and Sixty One - Jambalaya Chicken

Dear all,

Today we tried a new and interesting item that I had purchased while up at the fabulous Ravenna General Store http://www.ravennacountrymarket.ca/: Jambalaya Chicken. Darren had expressed interest in us making a jambalaya dinner, so when I stumbled across this lovely piece of chicken, I leapt at the opportunity to try it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jambalaya
Jambalaya originated in the Carribbean and is also often found in the Southern States such as Louisiana. http://southernfood.about.com/cs/jambalaya/a/jambalaya.htm
The chicken was spicy, wonderfully flavourful and perfectly cooked by D on the bbq!. The key is the creole spice, hard to find in the stores but recipes are available on the internet: http://www.gumbopages.com/food/creole.html. As you can see, the summer is nearly here - we even had corn, hurray - I love summer! (and its 34oC!!!!)

And in other news:
1. We picked up some gorgeous blooms from Costco to celebrate the long weekend! Darren has named them 'Porange' *mixture of pink and orange*.
