Dear all,
We are experiencing fabulous weather at the moment and today Darren decided that I needed to be gently nudged out of my comfort zone and took me on a trail ride with the bikes.
We started off riding the trails around the town centre ( out by Poplar for all locals) but I was immediately thrown off guard as we biked into the wilderness with trails that were overgrown [at best]. The trails were still pretty muddy and I still found it hard to trust myself and my bike after years of biking around the manicured and paved streets of inner cities.
It was also extremely difficult to take any photos! It was an extreme work out; we were biking through dense woodland, through marshy trails and across fields. I had to give 100% of my concentration to the bike and my path or I would have been off. Darren was behind me pushing me on and was very encouraging. After a few [major] false starts biking down a sheer [mud] face and down a cliff {yep, a cliff}, I started to get the hang of it and realize that my bike was capable of traversing such conditions.
We then cut across to the Georgian Trails and cut in again to sample the trails that looped through and connected the main trail to Blue Mountain. Above is a picture of Darren having a brief pause in a grassy field, the only opportunity I had to take a photo! We were out for about 2 hours and afterwards, I was exhausted with a funny, vibrating feeling in my hands and legs but totally exhilarated! I can't wait to go out again!
