Year Two Day Thirty Seven - Elvis Festival

Dear all,

Ohhh my, Elvis is in town!! Question: Where would one find a Ferris Wheel, Blue Suede Shoes and 1000 Elvii? Collingwood of course, It's Elvis Fest!
Collingwood's Elvis Festival is the second largest in the world and a major event in the Cwood annual calendar  http://www.collingwoodelvisfestival.com/. I have partaken in the vibrant evening festivities in years gone by but have always been working during the weekend so have missed the day time fun. After arranging to meet Karla for a morning coffee, I managed to become involved in 2011's Elvis Festival without even planning it!
After yet another scorcher even at 7:30am running down at Sunset Point - The 'Heat Dome' [AKA heatmageddon/heat bubble/ large high pressure weather system covering North America] doesn't seem to be going away but the Elvii were still out in force, wigs and all!

On my way to Espresso Post, I realized my path was being crossed by a fleet of Elvii driving their respective automobiles being serenaded by a large [for 9am] Cwood crowd.

There were stalls lining the streets full to the brim with Elvis memorabilia. Do not underestimate how passionate local Collingwood residents are about this event, it's a massive deal and attracts a huge influx of folks from far and away to the town for the weekend ( including the 'Elvis' obsessed Chilean Minor!)

Even in Espresso Post, I turned around to see Elvis ordering a latte... and managed to snap a photo. Elvis is alive!
It is a pretty unique event. Locals profess to either embrace it or escape... Darren has escaped to a Golf Tournament, I decided to paint up a storm, inspired by this plaque in the Library I snapped on my way home with Karla!
