Dear all,
The heat is on and what better time to stretch ones legs and head out into Collingwood for a wonder through the famous Collingwood Farmers Market!
I am ashamed to say that having been here so long, I had yet to visit the market which is situated right down down in front of the Admiral's Post and behind Loblaws. It was difficult while working at the inn as I always worked at weekends but even having had my weekends free for the last couple of months, I had still yet to peruse the Market's wares.
And it did not disappoint. Gorgeous Karla, a regular at the markets had offered to show me around and after a quick coffee at the fabulous Espresso Post (https://www.facebook.com/pages/espresso-post/86544699426) we made our way across the road to the plaza for a wonder throughout the many stalls.
There was an impressive number of local farmers selling their organic produce with stalls stacked high with lush foliage, bright green fronds and numerous local fruits and berries.
They also had a large variety of local meats - fresh and preserved. There was so much choice I was rather perplexed as what to purchase so ended up taking home nothing ( and our fridge is full to bursting..).
Another wonderful surprise - we bumped into Frank who was manning the flower store from Mountainside Gifts (Ski/ Snow board rentals during the winter, Plants and gifts in the summer, I love it!) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mountainside-Garden-and-Gift-Emporium/113590260130?ref=ts&sk=wall, then Karla's lovely mum and then Aranka from Sakura who had a stall selling her organic make up supplies and AMAZING organic cheese cake.
And here is someone you may recognize from my Success Blog: Earth Berries! The revolution in laundry detergent http://www.earthsberriesoapnuts.com/ and my new favorite green product for the home. I am obsessed and could never go back to regular washing detergent from the store! There was also art work and a wealth of other stalls selling jewelry, furniture and clothes.
Collingwood market is definitely worth a look if you have an hour to spare on a Saturday morning. It is a wonderful addition to the town's weekly calender and shows what a wonderful assortment of vibrant and talented folks live here!
