Year Two Day Twenty Seven - Thornbury Rib Fest

Dear all,

Jeff is in town and we decided to celebrate by heading to the Blue Mountain Chili Rib Fest in Thornbury. After the boys had enjoyed a cold beer on Georgina ( yep, the name has stuck), we harnessed all the meat eating powers we could muster and set out onto Grey Road 2 and BBQ Nirvana.
I believe this is the first time that the festival has been held at this specific location just outside of Clarksberg. We had missed the big competitive events of the day before; the chili cook off, the hog roast competition and the music highlight from the band "Trooper" but we were not abated and were happy with what was on offer.

We parked adacent to the main festival in a field of soy beans. It was a huge venue with an expanse of fields including a fair ground, beer field and music stage, vintage car field and *eeeek* horse show!
We started looking at the cars but  soon realized that it was important to get some meat action having already bypassed the main grill. The boys had a good look at several of the automobiles on show...
....here are the boys looking at a Corvette and an El Camino before we returned to the meat arena.

Darren went straight in an ordered a full rack of St. Louis ribs while Jeff and I went for a more conservative 1/2 rack. The smell of the grill and smokey meats was pretty sensational however we are currently experiencing a dense heat wave and were keen to sit down and enjoy our afternoon snack.
Here is a picture of the 1/2 rack **Darren's was twice this size and he destroyed it! with beans. Mouth Watering and delicious!
After our meat feast, we stopped off in the beer-field where we listened to the band and sipped on a cold ale. The band were pretty good despite a 'small' crowd although the lead singer didn't appear to know where he was thanking 'Oshawa' after he had finished his set. Hmmmm. Maybe he had a little too much BBQ sauce...

We finished off the afternoon watching the show jumping ( hurray!) and I was in heaven.
It was a great day and we are now in talks to tour the major rib festivals in Southern Ontario ( Kitchener is next week!)

And in other news:
1. Here is another swanky car, clocked on the way home from the Rib Fest: A fabulous Tesla!

The boys told me to take a photo.. so I did!
