Dear all,
Today I took one step further to becoming an Uber-Carnivore: I visited the local Abattoir, Stayner Meat packers! http://www.staynermeatpackers.com/
Now, before I get emergency telephone calls from all those concerned by this news, I merely went to see what local meats they have on sale in their organic shop, attached to the Abattoir, that sells produce that comes in from the neighboring farmers.
Its a fabulous store, very basic but clearly managed by people that know what they are doing. The nice lady on the counter was so helpful and sold me some sausage casings, a [massive] bag of organic pork trim [best for beginner sausage making] that she found 'out back' and then ushered me over to the freezers.
On leaving the store, I had in my car a huge bag of organic new potatoes, my sausage-making paraphernalia and three packets of home made organic sausages, 'Hot and Spicy Pork', 'Jalapeno sausage' and ' hot and spicy beef'. I was thinking Darren would be very pleased with my yield.
And he was. This evening, we feasted on organic jalapeno sausage and new potatoes. The sausages were fantastic, so flavorsome with the perfect balance of pepper and so lean! Amazing. And very inspiring for our up and coming sausage making bonanza!
And in other news:
1. This is a real treat for all nature lovers out there. The resident wasps have literally 'taken over' one of Linda's bird nests and shaped their nest around the house structure itself. They even left on the roof! Clearly the wasps have been very thorough in reading their 'Home and Gardens' magazine.
2. My audition for Hogwarts. I think it went well.
