Dear all,
I have been getting very involved in watching Poker during this past year with Darren [in particular] being very supportive of this new hobby. I have learnt a few tips from the big games on TV, my current favorite 'pro' being Daniel Negreanu. He likes to chat.
Anyway, Darren had had a busy week at work and Dave appeared from behind the silver-lined cloud texting those magic words 'we are having a poker game this evening'. Darren RSVP'd with a big yes and despite the worry that I would be intruding on 'boy world' D was adamant that i should also attend; in fact he was very positive that I would do very well...
Anyway, we arrived at Dave's fabulous house and were both in awe on how well he has done. He has moved mountains! His house has been totally transformed inside and out and a huge and well deserved congratulations must go to him. It inspires me to renovate a house!
Anyway.. the poker game started and immediately I felt nervous. Those boys are old hands and there was jargon flying around the table like we were in South London all talking in cockney rhyming slang.
We got started and I decided to try and channel Negraneau, hoping this would improve my game. I am sure not I succeeded in spiritually connecting with Daniel however I did end up playing quite well with a handful of chips consistently falling my way. The table was made up of Greg, Dave, Zoo, Alex and D. Andrea, Greg's girlfriend was dealer and we played right through until D and Greg fought it out for the prize and ended up splitting the pot. Hurray!
The shades in the photo apparently help if you don't have a suitably poised 'poker face' [ I do not]. Darren looks more the pro.. I look a little silly especially as it was pitch black outside. But it was a brilliant evening. Thank you so much Dave for having us all over and Happy Birthday congrats all round to Greg and Scott!
