Year Two Day Sixty Two - Espresso Post Running Club

Dear all,

I have always been an avid runner in fact running is such an important part of my life I run virtually every day. I run alone for the most part, which is fine, but sometimes a little dull if I decided to run for over 2 hours. I had been hearing about a group of runners that start out from the wonderful Espresso Post in Collingwood every Saturday morning http://espressopost.com/. I was also inspired as Mutter had just sent me brand spanking new running kit as an early birthday present (she gets distressed when she hears about what I use as as running kit, particularly during races. It all started in my teens when I came in second at the Southern England Ladies Championships in Aldershot and was wearing green flash trainers {tennis shoes}).
So, I shimmied along to the Post early in the morning armed with a strong cup of coffee and my new running kit. http://www.postrunners.org/ Fortunately, the lovely chap from Volley Ball was there too so the introductions weren't too awkward although I think they were all a little confused by this random English girl who turned up without warning. They explained that there were several levels of runners that  go out at a different pace and that there was a 'slower; group if I was interested in starting out at a more gentle pace. I decided to 'see how I felt when I started' but not giving too much away, thought it would be better to stay quiet and not talk about every PB I have ever achieved and my running history.
Here is a pic from early on in the run ( not me despite the same colour shirt - it's a hot colour in running circles!). I ended up having a storming run and came in with the front guy having blasted around Collingwood on a gorgeous summer morning. I must say, I get quiet exhilarated running with other people and it is fantastic to up the pace and therefore great training. I am not signed up for any major races so far, but would like to do a charity run - maybe the Blue Mountain Half Mara and most definitely the Collingwood five km for Breast Cancer... I will keep you all posted!
