Day One Hundred and Twenty - The Cottage with Kerry

Dear all,

After a crazy week at the inn I was very much looking forward to my day off and like a angel sent from the heavens, Kerry texted me to say that her and and the kids were home alone at their cottage and would I like to pop over for the evening? I responded immediately with a massive YES!

And what a treat it was. Even though I was there for a only short while, it felt like I had been away for a week. With Kerry's fabulous directions in hand, I streamed out of work, through Wasaga Beach and into the Canadian Great Outdoors. The cottage was about 60 minutes away off military road near Midland and Penetanguishene ( what a brilliant name for a town, try to say that 5 times in less than 30 seconds whilst eating a digestive biscuit). It was totally idyllic with beautiful cottages lining the lakeside and the smell of BBQ in the air.
I arrived with around 2 hours left of sunlight, it was the most beautiful evening imaginable with the kids playing on the beach and Kerry and I sitting in deck chairs sipping on a cold corona and discussing Life, The Universe and Everything.
Two of the major highlights of the evening involved fire.... Kerry and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to light the extremely stubborn BBQ and eventually succeeding ( with only a 'small' explosion. The next challenge was lighting a campfire on the beach. A combination of rather damp wood and very eager little ones wanting sparklers and smors meant it was a little tricky to get the fire started... but again we persevered and managed to get it to catch! Olivia and Ben even got some good marsh mallow roasting time in!

To top it off, the neighbors across the lake decided to have a fabulous firework display ( in our honor) so we ended our blissful evening on an explosive high.

It was so so lovely and I woke so refreshed to spend a couple more blissful hours on the deck drinking coffee and eating Kerry's home made muffins. Life is beautiful! Thank you Kerry, it was wonderful!!!!

And in other news:
1. Pictured below, ur new 'snake' trap. Now installed in the hot tub room. Effective due to the adhesive plate which the snake 'slides' onto and is unable to detach itself from until found and removed. Always a joy to know there is a live snake nest situated directly beneath the jacuzzi.
