Day One Hundred and Fifteen - Karla's Dinner

Dear all,

My darling friend Karla is a supreme chef and every time she cooks she casts the 'taste-sensation' spell over everyone who is lucky enough to sample her food. After having tasted some of her many delights, Linda invited Karla up to the inn to cater for a portion of a large event that would span the weekend. Karla would be first up on day 'one' as the guests arrived and what an evening it turned out to be!
We were housing 32 guests for a mammoth wedding anniversary celebration which would increase to over 50 for the main event and as always with these things:
1. Everyone arrives at once
2. Everyone wants to change their room configuration
3. A minimum of five superfluous children arrive with undisclosed adults and they are almost always under 5
4. Everyone is hungry.

Whilst Chris and I were flitting around like butterflies trapped in a net trying to organize everyone, Karla arrives like a serene goddess just 30 minutes before take-off with everything in perfect order and ready to go. She is amazing!

I helped her plate up some of her fabulous appetizers: A cheese plate from Dags and Willows ( one of my favorites places in Collingwood. http://www.dagsandwillow.ca ), meats, olives, a wild selection of meat sticks, spring rolls, fruits, dips and to go out with a bang: A triumphant carrot cake!
I have never known someone so relaxed and calm amidst 'slight' chaos, Karla was amazing. The guests were bringing in booze by the truck load and starting to gorge on the food with wide eyes and huge compiments to the chef.

The major bonus for me was that I got to work and chat with my beautiful friend all evening which never really seems like work. We even got out the sangria to celebrate!

All in all a total success. Karla is a culinary legend and set a major president for the rest of the weekend!

And in other news:
Angus and Mac as always keen to continue oversee the running of the inn.
