Always a great evening when Vince comes to town and this one was no exception ( but sadly no Kerry this time). While Darren was at work, Vince and I hit the town in search of treats to surprise D when he got home. And oh my did we find treats..
'Blue Mountain Meats' on Hurontario Street is a Meat Emporium, full of organic, grain fed goodness with slabs of meat bigger than my head. I am forever grateful for Vince's assistance on this one... I would have ended up flailing around and probably come home with a quail and pound of venison liver...

There was a superb deal on the Tbones which got Vince so excited he was almost vibrating in the store. As well as the three magnificent T-Bone steaks and a slab of wild boar pate, we picked up a crate of 80 shilling which they had just got in at the LCBO ( again.. our lucky day) and a new can of propane. All set for a monster evening of feasting. Vince took control of the BBQ, bone dust was sprinkled on the steaks, the barbie was fired up and we were off!
Below is a video of the BBQ..I really do think that Vince, Darren and I should start a BBQ show!
More pictures to come...[I must extract them from Vince's I Phone]
I also decided ( at around 11pm and after many, many beers) that it would be an excellent idea for me to conjure up a rather advanced desert known as 'syllabub'. My default cooking state seems to be that of a wannabe goddess who thinks she can cooks without following recipes. This is never a good idea when making deserts and certainly not after an ale or two. Whilst I tossed around sugar, grappled with limes and substituted items that I thought were 'similar' to those in G. Ramsey's recipe, Darren was making a valiant effort to try and salvage the operation while Vince was lying almost catatonic on the sofa from laughter and/ or disbelief. The result was interesting. We has to pop the deserts in the freezer for an hour or so in order to set ( not in recipe) and it certainly tasted of citrus fruits..

And in other news:
1. Today, I made friends with a starling on Darren's balcony. It then disappeared which was odd considering it was clearly disabled in some way so therefore unable to fly...... RIP starling..
