Well, today I accomplished something that [I worked out] I probably haven't done since the age of nine: To have one WHOLE day without ANY caffeine.. brrrrrr... shudder... cue 'sinister haunting gale noises'
Caffeine. One of the loves of my life in all of its beautiful forms: coffee, tea and diet coke etc etc [I once worked out how much I had spent on 'pret-a-manger' cappuccinos in one year and it bought me out in hives] . I have been mulling over this challenge for a while and knew that I would instinctively know when that day had arrived. That day was today.
And in fact.. it went quite well.
Possibly due to a very low expectation of my own personal will power, I was very unsure as to how the day would pan out. I had heard horror stories of 'head aches' and 'lack of energy' but to be honest, I had none of it. I actually had a very good day with no obvious withdrawal symptoms. After work, I ran a quick 15k and charged straight on through to art class where I churned out a 24/24 lily. One might say I work quite well without coffee.
Despite the great results and documented health benefits, I have absolutely no intention of making a habit of out this madness and will be right back on it in the morning. I love coffee.
Note:
To prove that I made it all the way through to the evening 'sans cafe', above a photo of me in art class with my very vibrant looking lily, full of the frothy power of my 'de-caffeinated' cappuccino from Duncans.
