Today I have the great pleasure in introducing our newest members at the inn:
Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Pork.
Our two new friends arrived this morning in a small crate having left the bosom of the great Michael Statlander to start their [short] lives here at the inn. They are from the English breed and very aptly named the 'Large Black' Pig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Black_(pig).
They may look small, cute and squeaky now but come fall, those pigs are going to weigh the equivalent of 5 small adults in fact, they would probably mistake me for dinner if I happened to cross paths with them down in a darkened alley. Mac and Bella were certainly very interested by what was going on especially with the Duke and Duchess' very immediate and rigorous attempts to escape. They managed to disguise 'digging' for freedom with having a mud bath [see below]. We are working on reinforcing the pen as there is a very actual concern that after a week or so of inn catering, they maybe big enough to single handedly plough through the metal work.
I managed to get the arrival of the pigs on video. We have also realized over the course of their first day, that the Duchess of Pork is actually a man. We are hoping he doesn't get a complex.
