Today I was in the presence of a legend: The world famous, KENNY ROGERS!
At 6pm, Darren and I swung by to pick up Dale and we sped off towards Orilla... our destination: Casinorama! https://www.casinorama.com/
CasinoRama is a huge complex essentially in the middle of nowhere but it houses a huge Casino, Hotel and Concert Hall and is pull enough for the likes of Lionel Richie and Robin Williams. Having grown up in the UK, I knew of Mr. Rogers but did know every song, word for word ( like most of the folks at the concert) but it was BRILLIANT.
Kenny is the quintessential entertainer and we had a blast. He still sounds fabulous, has a razor sharp tongue, looks great and at 75 ( and on his 5th marriage with 5 year old identical twins..) he clearly has ALOT of energy.
Kenny played classics like 'The Gambler' and 'Lucille' and by the end everyone was singing away and I noticed considerable toe tapping, including from myself. Di and Anna were on fire, dancing the night away to Kenny and his band.
At the end of the concert, ( No encore: Kenny is bored of them after all these years) we thought we had a chance to chat to the legend himself as we glanced a look at a white haired beard wandering across the empty stage. It turns out Kenny himself had fled on curtain call, so in the end we had to settle with a quick picture with 'Grant' the 'Kenny impersonator' from the front row. That was good enough for us though.
It was a BRILLIANT evening, thank you so much to all!
And in other news:
1. Whilst pottering around our wonderful condo today feeling serene and zen-like, I watched 'Ninja Assassin', a big step for me considering the level of violence and gore in the film. It was actually quite good.
