Day Two Hundred and Twenty Nine - Alexander Art Supplies

Dear all,

I am on a serious mission to churn out some art and today I popped into a relatively new store in Collingwood, Alexander Art Materials and Supplies.
Wonderful Connie had very kindly given me a gift certificate for my birthday for the new store so I took myself down there on a [rather bleak and blustery] morning to purchase a few new wonderful items.
The store is owned by the prolific artist Jason Alexander and I got chatting to him for while whilst in the store http://www.jasonalexanderart.com/default.asp. He was extremely helpful and put me in the right direction for drawing and sketching. I ended up picking up a load of stuff including a drawing board, paper, pastels * heart* and charcoal. Now I need to get drawing!

Here are some preliminary sketches: Darren has kindly offered to model for me as I continue to master 'faces' [see above] and as we have many apples, that also seemed a natural place to start.
I am very rusty but will hopefully will get back into shape in no time. Alexander Stores is also hoping to move to the new, Cranberry Mews which is very exciting as (a) It's very nearby and (b) shows that you can be successful as an artist.. (yay).

And in other news:
1. I have been experimenting with pumpkin pies: This time a more complex recipe and I used home made pastry! It got the thumbs up form Darren ( and has pretty much disappeared) http://www.thedeliciouslife.com/pumpkin-pie-recipe-cooks-illustrated/
2. There is snow on Blue Mountain.... time for the woolens to come out.
