Day One Hundred and Fourty - Early Morning Corporate Run

Dear all,

It's a very busy week at the inn. We had the big-wigs of a major corporation to stay for a few days; a great opportunity for such a group to sample Collingwood life, dine with our local uber chef du jour, Michael Statlander (http://www.torontolife.com/daily/daily-dish/aprons-icons/2009/04/08/cultivating-talent-michael-stadtlander%E2%80%99s-new-restaurant-goes-beyond-eco-eats/), relax at the heavenly Scandinave (http://www.scandinave.com/en/bluemountain/ and spend the rest of the time having 'important meetings' whilst kicking back at the inn... sigh....

The group where all fabulously successful 'Alpha-People', determined by clothing, car and general alpha-demeanor which is attributed to a fabulous educated used wisely to catapult into a very well paid job doing something very important.

Amongst the gaggle of corporate super-people, it came to light we had two 'iron men', three runners and an avid cyclist including the one female of the group (alpha females are categorized by their beauty, brains and general loveliness and best to avoid if you are feeling in any way inadequate).

Anyway... despite all this, upon serving them a Breakfast-of Kings yesterday morning, one of the guys had noticed me 'running' one lunchtime and asked me quizzically, 'so you run?'. 'Yes', I replied, 'every day'. Now this seem to light a fire in each and every one of those business tycoons and before I knew it we had arranged for me to take them out for a 'gentle' run at 6:15AM the next morning.

Whether it was due to my 'not very runner-like' appearance, or due to the fact they were all drinking whiskey by the pool until 2AM I will never know, but I tell you, not one of those Uber-Folk turned up for our 6:15 run. It was no skin of my nose as I went for a quick 5km to my favorite spot on the escarpment and watched the sun rise and ran back with a glowing contentment that breakfast would be a bit helping of humble pie this morning!

They had a great stay at the inn and hopefully will be back soon and have all promised next time they will make the early morning slot!

And in other news:
1. Paul has a new car! After realizing he had to start taking it easy on his beloved (320,000km) truck and has bought a very swanky yet 'practical' Ford SUV which resembles a mini on steroids. Check it out!
