Day Three Hundred and Forty One - Alphorn

Dear all,

Today, despite my slightly swollen jaw, we all made a trip to the Iconic 'Alphorn' just below Blue Mountain. It turns out that three of us ( myself, Darren and Nadia) were yet to step through the hallowed doors of Alphorn http://www.alphornrestaurant.com which is known, primarily [ to be always full ] and to have the 'Best Schnitzel in North America'!

We met at 6pm in order to get a quick dinner in before heading to the Cinema to see the new Bradley Cooper film 'Limitless'.

Darren and I managed to get there a little early so took the opportunity to grab a quick drink in the gorgeous bar on the side of the restaurant. The sun was shining as we sipped our drinks ( mine was [sadly] water [am still on the codeine]) and felt how lucky we were to have come before the restaurant closed for the Spring ( they do so well during the winter months they can take an extended break to cool down once the tourist season has calmed down a little).

They have a fabulous selection of beers and the bar man was wonderful. Here is Darren with his delectable cool ale in the conservatory.

Once Anna, Dale, David and Nadia arrived, we took our table in the main restaurant. This place is an incredible tribute to all things Swiss with cow bells, swatch watches and memorabilia covering the walls and ceiling.

We had been warned about the size of the portions and Anna had already mentioned that Alphorn was Dale's favorite restaurant in the area ( Dale likes meat). I am still on 'soft foods' so chose the French Onion Soup and Darren went for the House Schnitzel with Rosti potatoes.

The food arrived quickly and {don't let anyone tell you otherwise} it's an almighty feast!

Nadia had the meat loaf ( which was incredible), pictured here bathed in light ( she is an angel).

Here is a picture of my french onion soup: check out that cheese! A delight and perfect 'post-tooth extraction' although I did manage a couple of 'small' mouthfuls of Darren's Schnitzel ( FYI: delicious!)

They have 'Schnitzel' bags for those who are unable to finish their plate ( I would think 80% of their patrons; these meals are like watching an episode of Man VS Food), on such a bag modelled here by Dave, clearly excited about his breakfast tomorrow!

So our evening at Alphorn came to a close and we peeled off in to the night and on to our next destination, Galaxy Cinema!

It was a wonderful evening and I would highly recommend Alphorn to anyone who has yet to try it. It is a fabulous experience!

And in other news:
1. I am on a mission and totally inspired so thought I would head over to Willi Wildman's studio today for a lovely afternoon of art. I managed to churn out these two ( back to the nudes again!).
