We are gliding into 2011 and after a relatively challenging day at work, I got back to the warm glow of our condo. After the barrage of sweets and hors d'oeuvres, Darren was desperate for a hearty meal and on top of that, he had been watching the fabulous 'Man Vs Food' for three hours straight (enough to get even the most paltry of taste buds racing).

Man Vs Food is a revelation in US television programming, as a delightful host, Adam Richman eats his way across America as he hunts down the ultimate eating challenge. This guy LOVES food, having worked in the food industry for most of his adult life, he now spreads the love through this 'alternative' travel program that continues to astound with Adam's marathon eating adventures. Challenges include size, richness and spice and Adam pushes it to the max, it's extremely compelling and hilarious! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1342711/
Anyway, we decided to go forth into the night and sample some local fair at Swiss Chalet: A Canadian stable and famous for its Rotisserie Chicken. http://www.swisschalet.com/
From the off, I will say that I don't really understand why there isn't someone who has bought up the Swiss Chalet Franchise and taken over to the UK, this stuff is great! Darren suggested I go for the Half Chicken Meal. I chose Greek Salad as my side ( there are many options) and we also decided to throw in some chicken spring rolls as a quick starter.
I had heard tale of 'Swiss Chalet addiction'.. Linda talked to cravings while she lived in the UK; Darren spoke of Deidre and Deneen's love for the chicken dipping sauce; I wondered what all the fuss was about.... until now!!!
Swiss Chalet Chicken is AMAZING! They know how to cook it and they do it well. The sauce is addictive ( I am now addicted). I couldn't even begin to tell you why, but I am. Darren suggested my request for a 'weekly' Swiss Chalet would be a somewhat dangerous route to go down, so in the meantime, I can just reminisce about its wonderment. We had a great meal, Darren went for the burger [controversially] but enjoyed some of my chicken too. We read the paper, chatted to the lovely server, Sharon and discussed how 2011 was going to be amazing. All in all, a wonderful start to the year!
