Day Two Hundred and Sixty Three - Driving in a White Out

Dear all,

I regretfully feel that I have been uncharacteristically moribund over the last few days but to be honest, it's been awful and it's not getting ANY better. Today I experienced another joyous winter-time treat: driving in a white-out.
White-outs are possibly the worse form of weather condition for driving for the following reasons:
1. Zero Visibility
2. Drifts the size of a house
3. Lack of ability to see the road and/or approaching cars
4. No traction and ability to stop the car
5. Black ice, white ice, snowy ice, just about every form of ice
6. Terrifying in every way
Again, it was hard for me to take photos of my plight as I was concentrating on staying on the road, but here is a collection of other photos from drivers in a similar condition.
I made it in to work...a couple of hours late. The wind and snow are the main contenders and caused Collingwood to 'shut down' with virtually everything closed including Blue Mountain Ski Hill!!!! Things are bad!
It is not just Collingwood that has been thrown into disarray. The whole of Southern Ontario is being hit hard including ( and you may have heard this on the news...) the Sarnia area where 360 people were 'trapped' on the highway, in some cases, for 48 HOURS!

Poor Anna was one of those people after getting stuck in a drift for three hours whilst returning to Collingwood after visiting her family in Sarnia. She is only just able to get back now after being rescued! It's a blooming nightmare!
Hopefully we will have some respite later in the week but I think we can all safely say that there will be a White Christmas!
