Dear all,
We are still basking in the new-found sunshine and today, Darren took me on a surprise trip to one of Collingwood's iconic eateries, Dairy Queen!
It was the perfect day for it and I was extremely excited about what delectable treats awaited me through the doors of the famous creamery. Ice Cream is celebrated in North America in a way that many people from the rest of the world find hard to comprehend. I have always been a big fan of the frozen desert but only when I arrived in the USA aged 19, about to embark on a summer of fun working as a cocktail waitress and ice cream angel on the beaches of Dewey Beach and Rehobeth in Delaware, did I experience the mighty force of the 'Extra Large' ice cream milkshake. America knows how to eat Ice Cream; it was a huge eye opener for me and despite being happy that I am not Lactose Intolerant, I have always maintained a healthy respect for the creamy goodness. Dairy Queen in Canada seems to have a much more regulated view on portion size and a much more conservative, smaller menu. I was still overwhelmed by what was on offer and had to ask Darren to step in an order for me; there were 50 varieties of 'sundeas' alone!
We stopped off at one of their picnic tables to finish off our ice cream treats. It was delicious and not too overwhelming, just enough to satisfy the taste buds and cool off in the sun.
