Day Two - Maple Syrup

Dear all

Day two of my challenge and my daily task fell nicely into my lap.... Due to temperatures of around 18oC this afternoon ( for the locals this is virtually unheard of for the time of year which insights constant grumbling about 'run off' and grave faces when i decide to skip around in a strapless top and flip flops).

Today my task was to collect sap from the maple trees on the property. We tapped the trees a couple of weeks ago and clad in bikini and snow boots I headed out into the bush with my five gallon pale to collect the sap. I have never done anything quite like this and it was very satisfying emptying all the buckets into my pale and then trudging it back through the forest where the sap is then poured into a large container and heated over the wood burning stove to make the syrup. Appendix 1: Yesterdays task was in fact 'starting a blog' ( never done before). I was also fresh from seeing the magnificent Alice in Wonderland for the second time.... I was clearly still day dreaming about where in the world I could bump into a Cheshire Cat apart from Wonderland...
