Today was a ghastly day in Collingwood: A gruesome combination of wind, rain and sleet. Pretty Nasty.

The best remedy to counteract such a miserable day is the tried-and-tested formula: warm fire + warm food + warm blanket + hot toddy = happiness. So, as soon as I got home, I cracked open the jar of Mulled Wine seasoning that wonderful Karla had given me for me birthday whilst Darren got involved in the food/fire and blanket arrangement. It's all about survival in the wintertime!

The Mulled Wine seasoning came in a beautiful display tube showcasing all the fabulous ingredients and spices. I emptied the large vial of goodies into the pan and then poured in a bottle of Peller Estates, Baco Noir. The broth was then left to bubble away; inadvertently filling the room with mulled wine goodness.

It didn't take long for the brew to warm and in the final moments, I threw in a couple of orange slices [just for good luck].

The result was wonderfully warming and had such a delectable flavor that Darren and I were instantly cured from the chill. With such warm items surrounding us, we settled in for an evening of sketching (me), Poker ( D ) and Dragon's Den (both). Bliss.
