Still in the midst of the holiday season and I must confess that this blog entry is not 'entirely' date appropriate as I am still playing catch up. The only reason I say this is that people in the know will be confused by my reference to one of the most important days in the year: It's Darren's Birthday!!!
We had an amazing evening. The band were cracking; the lead looked and sounded like Neil and they churned out a set of greats that got everyone's legs bopping with more and more people streaming through the door to enjoy the dusky bar, fine ales and awesome music. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and Darren and I left totally contented! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARREN: you are my hero!

Darren wanted to keep his birthday fairly low key but we still managed to rally the tribe and spent a glorious evening at the Tremont. I was [sadly] very late due to a late night at the inn but still managed to fit in an espresso. It was wonderful to see everyone after Christmas; Anna, Dale, Greg, Nadia ( also birthday today!) and Di. After dinner we all decided to head to the newest hot spot in town, the [brilliantly named] Casbah!
Many will know that The Clash are very close to my heart so I was particularly excited about a Clash themed bar opening up IN COLLINGWOOD. It's like a dream. (One of my proudest moments working on this film http://www.joestrummerthemovie.com/strummer.html)
It's very exciting and once again, madam serendipity played a magical role in the evening and it turns out that a Neil Young tribute band were playing at the Casbah, on Darren's Birthday!!!!
They were brilliant! http://www.theneilyounguns.com/about.php. The bar was awesome. Andi ( Valiant owner, manager and brain child of the Casbah) looked like the happiest man in the world darting around the bar like the consummate pro.
